7. The Parable of the Talents

In the book of Mathew 25: 14- 28, the master entrusted three servants with different sums of talents (money) and went away for a long time.
When he came back, he asked for his money from each of the servants.
Two servants had invested the money for the entire period the master was away, and the money had doubled.  The one who had been given five talents had invested it and it was now 10.
The one who had been given two talents now had four. To the two, the master commended them and decided to entrust them with even more money as he shared his happiness with them.
The third servant had dug a hole and hid the 1 talent he had for the entire period of time.
The master became very angry with the one who hid the money, calling him wicked and lazy. He told him that he should have at least brought the money to a savings account in a bank (MAT25:14:27) so that he, the master, could at least get some little interest.
He therefore castigated the unwise servant and took all his money and gave it to those who had invested.
Are you saving and investing  anything for you and your children in a country where most of the wealth is made through the financial markets, or do you consider your  money too little to invest, and fear to invest just like the servant who had only 1 talent?

Or are you a member to a merry- go- round savings group that saves money (“safely”) and gives you a lump sum when your turn comes?

Did you know that money in this group rapidly looses value (inflation) as you wait for your turn?

What about if you had an emergency in your family when you are in the middle of waiting? Can another member forego their turn to let you get the lump sum?

How safe is your money if some members decide to quit before you get your turn?

Have you ever considered other safer ways or interest bearing methods that gives you control of your money while it multiplies?

Do you know if your group invested the lump sum contributed every month? It will help every member accumulate wealth faster than in a merry go round.

Don’t let the two biggest emotions, Fear and Greed, that block people from achieving success at making their money work for them, prevent you from taking advantage of financial tools available to you.

Don’t look to get wealthy overnight – use the wisdom of long term investment as shown in the parable of the talents?
1. What is happening around you?
2. How does it affect others?
3. How does it affect you?
4. What would have to happen first for the result you want, to arrive in all circumstances?
5. How much are you worth?
6. How much are you saving and investing in the Land of Opportunity?
